DALLAS STARS (11-14-4, 26 pts./5th Pacific Division): Head Coach Dave Tippett… The Stars have gone 5-4-0 since Nov. 26… Dallas ranks 28th in the league on the power play (13.0 pct.) and penalty killing (76.9 pct.)… The club is led by C Mike Ribeiro (4-18-22, 29 games), C Mike Modano (11-10-21, 29 games) and C Brad Richards (6-15-21, 28 games)… G Marty Turco is 10-12-4 with a 3.32 GAA, .881 SV%... The Blue Jackets are 8-18-3 in the all-time series, including 4-10-1 on the road… Columbus is 6-2-2 in its last 10 vs. Dallas after the Stars posted wins in 10-straight from Nov. 17, 2002 through April 11, 2006… The Jackets opened the season with a 5-4 win at Dallas on Oct. 10 on an overtime goal by Rick Nash.

PHOENIX COYOTES (14-13-3, 31 pts./3rd Pacific Division): Head Coach Wayne Gretzky… Phoenix has gone 6-3-1 since snapping a six-game winless streak against the Blue Jackets on Nov. 26… The Coyotes have gone 9-4-2 at home this season, outscoring their opponents 45 to 34… Club is led by LW Shane Doan (14-15-29, 30 games) and C Olli Jokinen (10-11-21, 24 games)… G Ilya Bryzgalov is 10-11-2 with a 2.94 GAA, .905 SV% in 24 games… The Blue Jackets are 11-15-5 all-time vs. the Coyotes, including 4-7-4 on the road… Columbus had won four of the last five prior to losing all three previous meetings this season, 3-1 at Phoenix on Oct. 11; 5-2 at home on Nov. 12; and 3-2 at home on Nov. 26.

D Rostislav Klesla (Injured Reserve, Nov. 19) is expected to miss at least one week… LW Raffi Torres (arthroscopic knee surgery; Injured Reserve, Dec. 2) is expected to miss two to four weeks… RW Derek Dorsett (hand injury-Injured Reserve, Nov. 26) is out indefinitely… Man Games Lost to Injury: 69.

 


PLAYER NOTES
MASON AMONG NHL GOALTENDING LEADERS: Rookie G Steve Mason went 2-1-0 with a 1.30 goals-against average and .951 save percentage in three games last week as he stopped 77-of-81 shots faced. He improved to 8-5-1 with a 1.98 GAA, .923 SV% and two shutouts on the season. He now ranks second in the NHL in GAA, sixth in SV% and fifth (tied) in shutouts and has started seven of the last eight games for the club…

MODIN LOOKING LIKE FREDDY OF OLD: After a 2007-08 season derailed by injury, LW Fredrik Modin has returned to the form that saw him register five 20-goal and two 30-goal seasons between 1999-07. He has collected 5-1-6 in his last eight games, including scoring goals in five of his last seven contests to raise his season totals to 7-7-14 in 24 outings…

COMMODORE CLOSING IN ON 2007-08 SEASON TOTALS: D Mike Commodore is riding a three-game point streak (1-2-3) and has raised his season point total to 1-12-13 in 30 games. He is one point shy of matching his production from 2007-08 when he notched 3-11-14 in 67 games with Carolina and Ottawa. His career-high is 7-22-29 in 82 games with the Hurricanes in 2006-07…

MISCELLANEOUS: C Derick Brassard has collected 1-4-5 in six games since a season-high five-game pointless streak to regain sole possession of the NHL rookie scoring race with 9-15-24 in 29 games… D Kris Russell has tallied 1-3-4 in his last four games… LW Jason Chimera has 1-1-2 in his past four games after collecting 1-1-2 in his previous nine outings… LW Kristian Huselius played in his 500th NHL game vs. Nashville on Dec. 11. He has registered 141-187-328 in 502 career games..

TEAM NOTES
JACKETS LOOK TO STAY HOT AT HOME: Since enduring a three-game home losing streak from Nov. 12-26, the Blue Jackets have won their last four games at Nationwide Arena. The four-game home winning streak is the club's longest since winning a franchise-record six consecutive home games from Dec. 26, 2007 to Jan. 15, 2008. Columbus has outscored its four opponents during the streak 11 to 4.

"HOCKEY HOLIDAYS FROM THE BLUE JACKETS" -  The Blue Jackets will be spreading holiday cheer this week… MONDAY, DEC. 15 – Visit to Nationwide Children's Hospital: Members of the team will be delivering toys to patients and hosting a holiday party in the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation Family Resource Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital on Monday from 2:30-3:30 p.m.… Salvation Army Bell Ringers: Blue Jackets players Marc Methot and Derick Brassard, Jared Boll and Kris Russell, and Mike Commodore and Jakub Voracek will be ringing bells and collecting donations as part of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle program in downtown Columbus between 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday… TUESDAY, DEC. 16 – Homeless Families Foundation Toy Delivery: Blue Jackets players Jason Chimera, Andrew Murray and Fedor Tyutin will be delivering toys donated by team players and staff to volunteers and parents and then visiting with children at the Homeless Families Foundation on Tuesday from 4-5 p.m.… SUNDAY, DEC. 21 – Columbus Zoo Skating Party: Blue Jackets players Steve Mason and Derek Dorsett will be skating and signing autographs for patrons and guests of Big Brothers & Big Sisters at the Frozone Ice Rink sponsored by Disney on Ice at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium from 3-4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Coach's Show with Ken Hitchcock airs on WBNS Sports Radio 1460 The Fan on Wednesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. with the Blue Jackets Head Coach, FOX Sports Ohio's Jeff Rimer and WBNS Radio's Bruce Hooley… Breakfast with the Blue Jackets can be heard on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and AM flagship station Sports Radio 1460 The Fan on Sundays from 10 to 11 a.m. with hosts Mark Wyant and members of the Blue Jackets broadcast team.

"$10 SUPER VALUE PLAN" ON SALE THROUGH DEC. 29: The $10 SUPER VALUE PLAN, presented by WBNS-10TV and Ticketmaster, offers fans tickets to three great weekend games against the Red Wings, Blackhawks, Sharks and more for just $10 per week. There are three packages available and each includes a pair of tickets in the same seat locations for each game. Packages with seats in the Upper Bowl (Areas E and F) at Nationwide Arena are priced at $150 or $10 per week, while packages with seats in the Lower Bowl (Area C) are $300 or $20 per week. The first payment is due at time of purchase and the payment plan will begin on Monday, December 29. Fans can choose either an automatic checking account deduction or credit card charge that will take place every Monday through March 30 (14 weeks).
