Blue Jackets Trim Roster By Six Players

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have made their first roster moves of training camp today, returning four draft picks to their respective junior clubs and releasing two others from their tryout contracts, Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced. The current training camp roster consists of 53 players.

The four Blue Jackets draft picks who were returned to their junior clubs were: forwards Dalton Smith (Ottawa, Ontario Hockey League) and Petr Straka (Rimouski, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) and defensemen Brandon Archibald (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Hockey League) and Austin Madaisky (Kamloops, Western Hockey League).

In addition, the club released goaltenders Riley Gill and Dan Taylor.
