Blue Jackets Trade Carter to Carolina for Fifth Round Pick

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have tradedforward Anson Carter to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a fifthround pick in the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft, clubPresident and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.

Carter, 32, signed a free-agent contract with the Blue Jackets inSeptember. He appeared in 54 games with the club, tallying 10 goals and17 assists for 27 points with 16 penalty minutes. In 664 career NHLgames, he has registered 201-219-420 with 225 penalty minutes.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Saturday when they visit theNew York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Game time is set for 7 p.m.ET. Live coverage on FSN Ohio HD begins with the IceBreaker pre-gameshow at 6:30 p.m. and includes the Blue Jackets Ice Cap post-game showimmediately following the game.
