The Columbus Blue Jackets will travel to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich., to face Central Division rivals, the Detroit Red Wings, tonight at 7:30 p.m.
The Jackets (2-4-0) will be concluding a four-game road trip tonight, before returning home to the friendly confines of Nationwide Arena to conclude their preseason slate, playing host to Chicago on Friday, and Nashville on Sunday.
The Red Wings, meanwhile, are 3-2-1 overall this season, posting a 2-1-0 record at home. The Jackets and Red Wings met earlier in the preseason with Columbus prevailing, 3-2, when rookie Gilbert Brule scored with just 27 seconds remaining in overtime. Joe Motzko and Joakim Lindstrom also scored for the Jackets, while Pascal Leclaire stopped 37-of-39 shots to earn the victory.
Nikolai Zherdev leads the Jackets in scoring with 0-5-5, having tallied at least one point in each of the four games he has appeared in. Kris Draper paces the Wings, posting 4-1-5 in four games.
The Jackets will face the Red Wings eight times during the regular season, begining with back-to-back home games against Detroit on Oct. 22 and 24.
Tonight's game will be broadcast on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship stations 1460 The Fan and CD101 in Columbus.
