GAME 21: BLUE JACKETS VS. LIGHTNING
NATIONWIDE ARENA, 7 P.M.
TV: FOX SPORTS OHIO / FOX SPORTS GO
RADIO: 97.1 FM & BLUEJACKETS.COM
SETTING THE STAGE: After a three-point weekend in Florida, the Blue Jackets return home (albeit briefly) for a Tuesday night game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It's the second meeting in less than a week for these two clubs, who last met Friday night at Amalie Arena, a 5-3 victory for Columbus.
The Blue Jackets led three times by two goals before closing out an important bounce-back win on the road; Alexander Wennberg and Nick Foligno scored in the first period, Josh Anderson in the second, and Brandon Saad and Cam Atkinson each tacked on goals in the third. Columbus scored two "response goals" within a minute of Tampa Bay, enabling the visitors to maintain control of a game in which they never trailed.
In the rematch, the Blue Jackets have a chance to return to their winning ways on home ice after a 2-0 loss to Calgary last week. John Tortorella did not like their competitiveness in that game and felt they were on the outside too much, which will be something to watch when they get back at it against the Lightning. The Blue Jackets know this Tampa team can score at will, and one of the items on their game plan was to play in the offensive zone as much as possible, and make the Lightning skate 200 feet up the ice to try and create offense.
NOTEWORTHY NEWS: There were no changes to the Blue Jackets' forward lines or defense pairs during Monday's practice at Nationwide Arena. Dalton Prout (upper body) skated with the team but Matt Calvert (upper body) did not. Tortorella said post-practice that Calvert remains day-to-day and his status for Tuesday is not yet known. Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to start for the Blue Jackets.
