COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed right wing Adam Pineault, the club's second round pick in the 2004 Entry Draft, to a standard entry level contract, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.Â As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Pineault, 19, tallied 26-20-46 with a +12 plus/minus rating and 64 penalty minutes in 61 games with Moncton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2004-05.Â He ranked second on the team in goals and third in points, while ranking third in the league in shots (288) and 16th in game-winning goals (5-tied).Â The 6-1, 193-pounder was also among the league's rookie leaders in points (T-9th), goals (4th) and plus-minus rating (T-4th).
The 46th overall pick in the 2004 Entry Draft, Pineault also played for Team USA at the 2005 World Junior Championships, netting 0-1-1 in seven games.Â A native of Holyoke, Massachusetts, he spent the 2003-04 season with Boston College , scoring 4-4-8 with 30 penalty minutes in 28 games.
The Blue Jackets continue their preseason schedule tonight when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Nationwide Arena and return to action on Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings.Â Game time both nights is 7 p.m.
