Blue Jackets sign New Albany native Kole Sherwood to three-year, entry level contract

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Kole Sherwood to a three-year entry level contract, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Sherwood, 18, notched 22 goals and 26 assists for 48 points and 29 penalty minutes in 31 games with the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets U18 team of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey league during the 2014-15 campaign. He led the league in goals and finished third in assists and second in points.

He also added 1-1-2 and a +2 plus/minus rating in three games with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League.

The New Albany, Ohio native, who participated in the 2015 Blue Jackets Development Camp last week, has posted 37-29-66 and 36 penalty minutes in 74 career games with the AAA Blue Jackets U16 team (T1EHL).

He recorded 24-18-42 and 17 penalty minutes in 34 games with the U16 squad in 2013-14. He finished tied for third in the league in goals and sixth-tied in points.
