Columbus Blue Jackets center Sergei Fedorov is expected to miss four to six weeks due to a shoulder injury suffered in the second period of Tuesday night's 4-1 preseason win over the Buffalo Sabres, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today. Fedorov, who joined the Blue Jackets in November 2005, currently ranks 10th among active NHL players in scoring with 443-620-1,063 in 1,055 games.
The club also announced the assignment of five players to the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate. Forwards Petr Pohl and Tim Konsorada, defensemen Trevor Hendrikx and Mark Flood, and goaltender Dan LaCosta will all join the Crunch when the club opens training camp in Syracuse this weekend.
The Blue Jackets (2-0-0) return to preseason action on Thursday night when they face the Nashville Predators at the Fed Ex Forum in Memphis. Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET. The club returns to Nationwide Arena on Friday, hosting the Central Division rival Chicago Blackhawks at 7 p.m. ET.
