COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have trimmed six players from their training camp roster, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced Saturday. The moves bring the club’s current roster to 25 players.
The following players were assigned to the Lake Erie Monsters, the Blue Jackets’ American League affiliate – LW Markus Hannikainen, D Dean Kukan and LW Kerby Rychel. In addition, D Andrew Bodnarchuk, C Michael Chaput and D Justin Falk will be placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Lake Erie.
The Blue Jackets earned a 7-1 victory over the Nashville Predators to close out their preseason schedule tonight, finishing with a 5-2-1 record. The club opens its 15th NHL season at Nationwide Arena against the New York Rangers on Friday, October 9. Game time is 7 p.m.
