COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets today announced that center Nick Drazenovic has been recalled from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. He is expected to join the club prior to tonight’s game against the St. Louis Blues.
Drazenovic, 26, was scoreless in two games with the Blue Jackets earlier this month and has appeared in five career NHL games, including three with the Blues in 2010-11. He has registered 16 goals and 30 assists for 46 points with 18 penalty minutes and a +10 plus/minus rating in 47 games with the Falcons this season. He ranks second on the club in assists (tied), points and power play goals (nine) and is third in goals (tied).
The Prince George, British Columbia was signed by the Blue Jackets as a free agent on July 1, 2011 after spending four seasons in the Blues organization. The 6-1, 192-pound center was St. Louis’ sixth pick, 171st overall, in the 2005 NHL Draft and appeared in three games with St. Louis (0-0-0) and 278 games with the Blues’ AHL affiliate in Peoria (70-90-160) from 2007-11. In 41 appearances with Springfield last season, Drazenovic recorded 13-28-41.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Blues at Scottrade Center. Game time is 8 p.m. ET.
