Blue Jackets Recall Goaltender Steve Mason from Kitchener (OHL) and Left Wing Joakim Lindstrom from Syracuse (AHL)

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets made a trio of roster moves February 5, club General Manager Scott Howson announced. Columbus recalled goaltender Steve Mason from the Ontario Hockey League's Kitchener Rangers and left wing Joakim Lindstrom from the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch and re-assigned defenseman Duvie Westcott to Syracuse. The club also announced that goaltender Pascal Leclaire is expected to miss at least the next two games due to a neck injury suffered in Tuesday night's game vs. Washington.

Mason, 19, has posted a record of 22-6-3 with a 2.79 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and three shutouts in 31 OHL games with the Rangers and London Knights. He currently ranks fourth in the league in wins and shutouts, is sixth in save percentage and 10th in goals-against average. In January, he was named the Most Valuable Player and Top Goaltender at the 2008 World Junior Championships after leading Canada to its fourth-straight gold medal. The Oakville, Ontario native went 5-0-0 with a 1.19 goals-against average, .951 save percentage and one shutout in five games.

Columbus' second pick, 69th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft, Mason was named the OHL's Goaltender of the Year in 2006-07 after going 45-13-4 with a 3.20 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and two shutouts in 62 games with London. In 105 career OHL games, he is 72-22-7 with a 3.03 goals-against average, .916 save percentage and five shutouts.

Lindstrom, 24, has appeared in 11 games with the Blue Jackets this season, tallying 2-4-6 and eight penalty minutes. Columbus' second pick, 41st overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft has registered 3-4-7 and 12 penalty minutes in 23 career NHL games.

A native of Skelleftea, Sweden, Lindstrom leads Syracuse in scoring in 2007-08 with 20-27-47 and 54 penalty minutes in 38 games. He is among the AHL's leaders in points (ninth), goals (13th) and power play goals (10, sixth) and collected 1-1-2 in his AHL All-Star Game debut on January 28. He has registered 60-86-146 and 140 penalty minutes in 165 career AHL games.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Thursday when they visit the Phoenix Coyotes at Arena.
