COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed goaltender Curtis McElhinney on Injured Reserve and have added goaltender Anton Forsberg to the roster on Emergency Recall from the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. McElhinney suffered an upper body injury in Saturday’s game at Ottawa and is expected to miss at least one week.
Forsberg, 21, has gone 1-2-0 with a 2.36 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in three games with Springfield this season, stopping 82-of-89 shots faced. He is 4-2-0 with a 1.69 goals-against average and .940 save percentage in seven career AHL games since making his North American professional debut with the Falcons late in the 2013-14 season.
Columbus’ sixth pick, 188th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft, Forsberg went 11-11 with a 2.44 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 22 games with Modo (Swedish Hockey League) in 2013-14. Competing in Sweden’s Hockey Allsvenskan league as a member of Sodertalje SK, finished second in the league with a 2.04 goals-against-average and .933 save percentage and posted a 24-9-0 record in 2012-13.
