The Columbus Blue Jackets have added goaltender Andrew Penner , to the roster on an emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today. Penner will join the club prior to Wednesday's game at Nationwide Arena against the Nashville Predators.
Penner will replace Marc Denis in the lineup on Wednesday. Denis suffered a bruised clavicle during Monday's game vs. the Detroit Red Wings. He is listed as day-to-day and is expected to return to the lineup in time for Friday's game vs. the Minnesota Wild.
Penner, 22, has appeared in one game with the Crunch this season and is 1-0-0 with a 3.00 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. He made 41 saves in a 6-3 win over Rochester on Saturday. He is 9-12-1 with a 2.71 goals-against average in 24 career AHL games, including a 8-12-1 mark with a 2.70 goals-against average in 23 games as an AHL rookie in 2004-05.
