COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forward Sean Collins from the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Collins, 24, skated in one game for Columbus earlier this season, registering one hit in 9:22 of action on October 17 against Montreal. The 6-1, 198-pound center made five appearances with the Blue Jackets last season and recorded five blocked shots in addition to three hits and six penalty minutes.
A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Collins is currently tied for third place on the Falcons in scoring with 2-4-6 in nine appearances this season. He has tallied 14-28-42 and a +22 plus/minus rating in 81 career AHL games with Springfield.
Columbus’ ninth pick, 187th overall, at the 2008 NHL Draft, Collins turned pro on March 29, 2012 after spending four seasons with the Cornell Big Red (ECAC/NCAA). He registered 30-26-56 during his 136-game collegiate career.
