COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added defenseman Derrick Walser to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.
Walser, 28, has appeared in two games with Columbus in 2006-07 and spent parts of three seasons with the Blue Jackets from 2001-04. He has collected 6-21-27 and 56 penalty minutes in 84 career NHL games. He has also tallied 9-25-34, 59 penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating in 47 AHL games with the Crunch and Albany River Rats this season, including 9-24-33, 55 penalty minutes with a +10 plus/minus rating in 41 games with Syracuse. He was acquired from Carolina on November 29 in a trade that sent defenseman Mark Flood to the Hurricanes.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Wednesday when they visit the Pacific Division-leading Anaheim Ducks. Game time from Honda Center is set for 10 p.m. ET.
