Blue Jackets Recall Defenseman Clay Wilson from Syracuse (AHL)

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have added defenseman Clay Wilson to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced March 24. Wilson is expected to join the club in time for Tuesday's game at Nashville.

Wilson, who will turn 25 on April 5, has tallied 12 goals and 32 assists for 44 points with 33 penalty minutes and a +9 plus/minus rating in 67 games with Syracuse and the Portland Pirates this season. Selected to play in this year's AHL All-Star Game, he currently ranks fourth among league defensemen in points and is tied for seventh in goals. He has notched 9-27-36 with 27 penalty minutes and is +11 in 53 games with the Crunch. He was acquired by the Blue Jackets with defenseman Aaron Rome from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for center Geoff Platt on November 15, 2007.

Wilson has registered 31-93-124 and 125 penalty minutes in 206 career AHL games, including 10-27-37 and 40 penalty minutes in 60 games with Grand Rapids as a rookie in 2005-06. Signed by Anaheim as a free agent on July 11, 2006, he collected 9-34-43 and 52 penalty minutes in 79 games with Portland in 2006-07. The Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota native played four seasons at Michigan Tech University of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association from 2001-05, registering 17-40-57 and 119 penalty minutes in 148 games.

The Blue Jackets return to action Tuesday when they visit the Nashville Predators at Sommet Center. Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FSN Ohio will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 7:30 p.m. The game will also broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
