Blue Jackets recall defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk from Lake Erie Monsters (AHL)

COLUMBUS, OH – The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk from Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Bodnarchuk, 27, leads Monsters defensemen and is tied for fourth on the club in points with eight on two goals and six assists. He has also recorded 10 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 14 games. The Drumheller, Alberta native has registered two penalty minutes in five career NHL games with the Boston Bruins during the 2009-10 season.

Signed as a free agent in July 2015, Bodnarchuk has tallied 32-111-143, 479 penalty minutes and a +64 plus/minus rating in 487 career AHL games with the Providence Bruins, Manchester Monarchs and Monsters since beginning his professional career in 2008. In 2014-15, he posted 5-20-25 in 61 regular season games and added 0-6-6 in 19 playoff games to help Manchester capture the Calder Cup championship. The defenseman was originally selected by the Bruins with their fifth pick, 128th overall, in the 2006 NHL Draft.
