COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed goaltender Dan LaCosta to a one-year, two-way NHL-American Hockey League contract, General Manager Scott Howson announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.
LaCosta, 23, was a 2-0-0 record with a 1.54 goals-against average, .950 save percentage and one shutout in three games with the Blue Jackets last season. He earned the first win of his NHL career stopping 28-of-30 shots in an overtime win over San Jose on February 7. In his second career NHL start, he stopped all 31 shots he faced against Colorado on February 10 to post the first shutout of his NHL career. In 45 games with the Crunch in 2008-09, he went 19-18-2 with a 2.79 goals-against average, .913 save percentage and two shutouts. Columbus' fourth pick, 93rd overall in the 2004 Entry Draft, he has gone 33-27-6 with a 2.66 GAA, .913 SV% and six shutouts in 79 career AHL games.
