Blue Jackets Re-assign Three To Syracuse

The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-assigned defenseman Jamie Pushor and forwards Peter Sarno and Ben Simon to the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced Monday.

Pushor was an emergency recall on Dec. 31 and appeared in one game with the Blue Jackets, notching an assist in 17:09 of ice time. He has recorded 2-9-11 in 33 AHL games with Syracuse this season.

Sarno was an emergency recall on Jan. 8 and appeared in one game with the Blue Jackets with 10:42 of ice time. He ranked sixth in the AHL in points and second in assists last season with 16-66-82 in 80 games. Sarno has 9-6-15 in 13 games for Syracuse this season after missing time at the start of the season due to injuries.

Simon has appeared in 36 games this season, split between Columbus and Syracuse. The Shaker Heights, Ohio native is scoreless in five NHL games. He’s recorded 10-10-20 with three power-play goals and three shorthanded goals in 31 AHL contests.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Wednesday night when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m., with FSN Ohio's Ice Breaker pregame show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
