COLUMBUS, OHIO – Goaltender Anton Forsberg and defenseman Austin Madaisky of the Springfield Falcons have been selected to participate in the 2015 American Hockey League All-Star Classic presented by Turning Stone Resort Casino, the Falcons and AHL announced today. The players will represent the Falcons on the Eastern Conference squad at the event to be held January 25-26 in Utica, New York.
Forsberg, 22, has made 21 starts with the Falcons this season, compiling a 16-4-0 record, 1.93 goals-against average, .931 save percentage and two shutouts. Columbus’ sixth pick, 188th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft was also named the CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month in November. He is playing in his first full professional season in North America after spending the majority of the 2013-14 campaign with MoDo of the Swedish Hockey League.
Madaisky, 22, has racked up 9-20-29 with 20 penalty minutes and a +6 plus/minus rating in 36 games, leading the Falcons in assists and points. He is also tied for the AHL lead in points by a defenseman. The Surrey, British Columbia native will be making his AHL All-Star Classic debut after splitting the past two seasons between Springfield and the ECHL’s Evansville Icemen. The Surrey, British Columbia native was the Blue Jackets’ sixth pick, 124th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft.
