Blue Jackets Prospect Joakim Lindstrom Named RBK/AHL Player of the Week

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Joakim Lindstrom has been named Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 25, the American Hockey League announced November 26.

Lindstrom, who turns 24 on Dec. 5, registered three goals and four assists for seven points along with a team-leading 10 shots on goal in a pair of games last week. He recorded four points and was named the game’s first star in Syracuse’s 6-4 victory over Manitoba on Friday night. His second goal of the contest was the game-winner and came with just 3:54 remaining in regulation. On Saturday, he scored another go-ahead third-period goal and added two assists in the Crunch’s 4-3 overtime loss at Toronto. In recognition of his achievement, he will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Crunch home game.

The Blue Jackets second pick, 41st overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft, Lindstrom has climbed to seventh in the AHL in scoring with 10-12-22 in 20 games for Syracuse this season. He set career highs in goals (22) and points (48) with the Crunch in 2006-07, and has totaled 50-71-121 in 147 career AHL games. He has appeared in 12 games with the Blue Jackets, recording one goal and four penalty minutes.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place. Game time is set for 9 p.m. ET.
