Blue Jackets Players Pay Tribute to Hockey Moms in Support of Breast Cancer Research

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets players Rick Nash, Sergei Fedorov, Gilbert Brule, Manny Malhotra, Jason Chimera, Jody Shelley, Aaron Johnson and Anders Eriksson will take to the ice with pink hockey sticks in support of breast cancer research when the Blue Jackets host the Chicago Blackhawks Mar. 20 at Nationwide Arena, the club announced today.

The players will be using special pink sticks in TPS Hockey's 2nd Annual Tribute to Hockey Moms during the pre-game warm-up prior to the game. The limited edition sticks used by the Blue Jackets and other participating NHL players will be autographed and auctioned on eBay through the TPS Tribute to Hockey Moms Pink Stick auction. Money raised will support breast cancer research through the NHL/NHLPA's Hockey Fights Cancer program. Last year's initiative raised over $150,000.

Game time for the game between the Blue Jackets and Blackhawks is 7 p.m. with live coverage on FSN Ohio beginning with the Ice Breaker pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. Coverage also includes the Blue Jackets Ice Cap post-game show immediately following the game. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
