MASON, GARON TO WEAR MASKS DESIGNED BY SEASON TICKET HOLDERS
The Blue Jackets announced last week that Paul Kramer of Columbus and Cathy Lord of Jackson, Ohio are the winners of the season ticket holder contest to design the masks that will be worn by club goaltenders Steve Mason and Mathieu Garon during the team's 10th season in 2010-11. Upon reviewing the 83 imaginative and inspired entries that were submitted, Mason chose Lord's design which emphasizes the connection between the team name and its Civil War heritage by featuring a flag-bearing soldier marching atop the mask while stars representing Ohio's state flag adorn the sides. Garon selected Kramer's rendering, which also invokes the Civil War motif by incorporating a partial image of the Union Army cap as well as the team's primary and 10th season logos.
