BOSTON BRUINS: Head Coach Claude Julien… Went 53-19-10 (116 pts.) in 2008-09, winning the Northeast Division and finishing with the second-best record in the NHL (San Jose: 53-18-11, 117 pts.)… Led by C Marc Savard (25-63-88, +25 in 82 games), Norris Trophy winner D Zdeno Chara (19-31-50, +23, 11 PPG in 80 games) and Vezina Trophy winner G Tim Thomas (36-11-7, 2.10 GAA, .933 SV%, five SO in 54 games)… Blue Jackets won lone meeting in 2008-09, 2-0, at home on Mar. 10… Teams meet once in the regular season this year on Jan. 21 at Boston.

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS: Head Coach Dan Bylsma… Defending Stanley Cup champions… Went 45-28-9 (99 pts.) and finished second to New Jersey in Atlantic Division in 2008-09… Evgeni Malkin (35-78-113, 82 games) and Sidney Crosby (33-70-103, 77 games) finished first and third in the NHL in scoring… Teams split two games last season with Pittsburgh winning 4-1 at home on Feb. 6 and Columbus earning a 4-3 shootout win at home on Mar. 12… Pittsburgh earned a 5-4 overtime win over the Jackets at home on Sept. 15.

NASHVILLE PREDATORS: Head Coach Barry Trotz… Went 40-34-8 (88 pts.) in 2008-09 and were the only Central Division team not to make the playoffs… Led by C Jason Arnott (33-24-57, 65 games) and D Shea Weber (23-30-53, 81 games; tied for second among NHL defensemen in goals)… Jackets went 3-2-1 vs. Nashville last season after going 1-13-2 the previous two seasons… Nashville beat Columbus 3-2 at home on Sept. 19.

G Mathieu Garon has appeared in two preseason games and is 0-0-0 with a 0.76 goals-against average and .976 save percentage in 79 minutes. He stopped all 21 shots he faced in two periods against his former Pittsburgh teammates on Sept. 15 and turned aside 20-of-21 shots in two periods at Nashville on Sept. 19, leaving both games with the Blue Jackets ahead… LW Maksim Mayorov scored two goals at Pittsburgh on Sept. 15… Also registering multi-point totals so far in the preseason are C Andrew Murray (1-1-2, +3 in two games), 2009 first round pick D John Moore (0-2-2, -1 in two games) and D Mathieu Roy (0-2-2, +3 in two games)… RW Jakub Voracek, C Antoine Vermette and LW Alexandre Picard have also scored goals for Columbus.

Fans will get a preview of the upcoming season when "Blue Jackets Live: Season Preview" debuts on FOX Sports Ohio this Wednesday, September 23, at 10 p.m. The show features interviews with Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson, head coach Ken Hitchcock, team captain Rick Nash and Calder Trophy-winning goaltender Steve Mason. In addition to Wednesday night's debut, the show will also air at the following dates and times: Thursday, September 24 - 10 p.m; Monday, September 28 - 8:30 p.m.; Tuesday, September 29 - 6 p.m.; Wednesday September 30 - 10 p.m.; and Friday, October 2 - 10 p.m.

Fans can join the Blue Jackets and OhioHealth in supporting local patients in need by giving blood when the club hosts the annual “Hockey: It’s in Your Blood” Drive at Nationwide Arena on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All donors will receive two Blue Jackets game tickets, have a chance to win a ride on the Zamboni during a game at Nationwide Arena and receive a voucher for a special ticket offer to Red Cross Night when the Jackets host the Calgary Flames on Oct. 13.

Through Sunday, September 27, Columbus-area shoppers who purchase four 12-packs of Pepsi or Diet Pepsi (regular or caffeine free) in a single transaction at Central Ohio Giant Eagle or other participating grocery and convenience stores can receive two tickets to selected home games. Purchasers need to bring the on-pack sticker and register receipt to the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office for two tickets to a designated Blue Jackets home game, courtesy of Pepsi. Tickets may only be redeemed at the box office between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday or 10a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, while supplies last.

The Blue Jackets open their ninth NHL season on Saturday, Oct. 3 vs. Minnesota Wild. All fans in attendance will receive a 2009-10 schedule magnet presented by Donatos and a commemorative Steve Mason Calder Trophy Poster. In addition, the Calder Memorial Trophy will be on display in the arena throughout the night.
