Blue Jackets Place Forwards Manny Malhotra, Michael Peca on Injured Reserve; Add Lindstrom, Murray on Emergency Recall

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed centers Manny Malhotra and Michael Peca on Injured Reserve and have added left wing Joakim Lindstrom (pronounced yoh-AH-kihm LIHND-struhm) and center Andrew Murray to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Scott Howson announced December 27.

Lindstrom and Murray are expected to join the Blue Jackets in Nashville for tonight's game against the Predators. Malhotra, who has collected five goals and six assists for 11 points with 14 penalty minutes in 28 games, was placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to December 12 due to a knee injury. Peca has lingering effects of a blow to the head suffered vs. Nashville on December 23. He has notched 2-12-14 and 28 penalty minutes in 24 outings this season.

Lindstrom, 24, has 1-0-1 in three games with Columbus this season, scoring his second career NHL goal vs. Colorado on December 5. He has tallied 2-0-2 and four penalty minutes in 15 career NHL games over the past three seasons. Columbus' second pick, 41st overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft, he has registered 15-23-38 and 50 penalty minutes in 29 games with the Crunch this season. He ranks fourth in the AHL in points and goals (tied) and is tied for seventh in assists.

Murray, 26, has tallied 13-2-15 with 15 penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating in 34 games with Syracuse this season and ranks 13th (tied) in the AHL in goals. The Selkirk, Manitoba native was Columbus' 11th pick, 242nd overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft. After playing college hockey at Bemidji State University from 2001-05, he has registered 36-30-66 and 150 penalty minutes in 183 career AHL games with the Crunch.

The Blue Jackets and Predators meet tonight at the Sommet Center in Nashville. Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET.
