COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Matt Calvert on Injured Reserve and recalled center Justin Scott from the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Calvert, who is day-to-day with an upper body injury, was retroactively placed on Injured Reserve on November 21.
Calvert, 26, has recorded two goals and an assist for three points with 12 penalty minutes and an "even" plus/minus rating in 17 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has tallied 55-58-113 and 204 penalty minutes in 299 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets since making his NHL debut in 2012-13. The Brandon, Manitoba native posted career highs in games played, shots (114) and points (tied) with 11-13-24, 51 penalty minutes and was +1 in 73 games with the Blue Jackets in 2015-16. He was the Jackets' fifth round pick, 127th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.
Scott, 21, has registered 3-3-6 and eight penalty minutes in 16 games with the Monsters this season. He made his professional debut on October 14 vs. Rockford and collected his first point (assist) a day later vs. the IceHogs. He tallied his first AHL goal on October 28 vs. San Antonio. The Burlington, Ontario native notched 69-78-147 with 152 penalty minutes and was +65 in 251 career Ontario Hockey League games with the Barrie Colts from 2012-16. He posted career highs in assists and points with 28-37-65, 60 penalty minutes and was +32 in 67 regular season games and finished second in the OHL in postseason goals with 17-3-20 in 15 playoff contests. Scott signed a three-year, entry level contract with Columbus on April 15, 2016.
The Blue Jackets, who are 8-2-2 in the past 12 games to improve to 10-5-3 on the season, return to action tonight when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning.
