Blue Jackets Kick Off 2011-12 Season with Opening Night Plaza Party, Presented By Nationwide Insurance, on Friday, October 7

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets invite fans to celebrate the team's 2011-12 season home opener by visiting the Opening Night Plaza Party, presented by Nationwide Insurance, on Friday, Oct. 7 before the Jackets host Central Division rival Nashville Predators at 7 p.m. The party on the Front St. plaza starts at 4:30 p.m. and game tickets are not required to attend.

Fans can enjoy music, drinks, including blue beer, and snacks along with appearances by Stinger and promotions teams. Kids can enjoy activities such as face painting along with a sign station to make their own Blue Jackets sign for Opening Night. Also adding to the atmosphere on the plaza will be a pair of live radio and television broadcasts starting with Sports Radio 97.1 The Fan’s Mike Ricordati and Scott Torgerson, hosts of “Common Man and The Torg,” doing their full show live from the plaza from 3-6 p.m. FOX Sports Ohio’s Ray Crawford, Bill Davidge and Dave Maetzold will host an expanded edition of the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show from their outside broadcast position starting at 6 p.m.

Upon entering Nationwide Arena, all fans will receive a 2011-12 schedule magnet, courtesy of Papa John’s. Fans are encouraged to take their seats by 6:50 p.m. for pre-game opening ceremonies, featuring all-new player introductions and accompanying video and light show before the puck drop shortly after 7 p.m.
