The Blue Jackets make a brief stop at Nationwide tonight... their only home game in a stretch of six starts. After completing their second and last Western Canadian trip, the Jackets host the L.A. Kings tonight before heading to Nashville after tomorrow's trading deadline for a Thursday meeting with the Predators and a Saturday stop in Detroit against the Red Wings.
Head Coach Ken Hitchcock after today's morning skate told the gathered group of media members that the Blue Jackets Division record down the stretch will determine wether or not the CBJ make it into the playoffs. The Blue Jackets have three games left with the Predators, two left with Detroit, four left with Chicago and three remaining with the Blues.
Of course tonight is what Hitchcock says the coaches and players are focused on and not the other remaining 18 games after tonight or the trading deadline... 3 p.m. Columbus time tomorrow.
Scott Howson is the point person working the phones but as he has said repeatedly... he will NOT mortgage the future for a rental player or players.
Both Rusty Klesla and Freddie Modin took part in today's morning skate but neither will play tonight... more likely is the fact said Hitchcock that both will play Thursday in Nashville.
