VANCOUVER CANUCKS (3-3-0, 6 pts./3rd Northwest Division): Head Coach Alain Vigneault… Went 39-33-10, 88 pts. in 2007-08, but missed the playoffs for just the second time in the past seven seasons… Vancouver's offense is led by C Henrik Sedin (2-5-7, +5 in six games) and former OSU standout C Ryan Kesler (3-3-6 in six games)… All-Star G Roberto Luongo is 3-2-0 with a 3.39 GAA, .886 SV% and one SO… The Blue Jackets are 9-15-4 in the all-time series, including 5-6-3 at home… Columbus is 9-9-1 vs. Vancouver since the start of the 2002-03 season, including 6-3-1 at Nationwide Arena… The clubs split four meetings in 2007-08, including a 3-2 Columbus OT win at Vancouver in the last meeting on Feb. 29, 2008.

NEW YORK RANGERS (6-1-1, 13 pts./1st Atlantic Division): Head Coach Tom Renney… The Rangers own the best record in the NHL… The club has made three-straight appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs after enduring a seven-year drought (1997-04)… The Rangers lineup features former Jackets RW Nikolai Zherdev (2-3-5 in eight games) and LW Dan Fritsche (0-0-0 in two games)… All-Star G Henrik Lundqvist is 4-1-1 with a 2.18 GAA and .920 SV%... The Blue Jackets are 5-2-1 all-time vs. the Rangers, including 4-1-0 at home… Columbus has won the last three meetings, including 3-2 at Madison Square Garden in the last meeting on Feb. 24, 2007.

MINNESOTA WILD (4-0-0, 8 pts./1st-T Northwest Division): Head Coach Jacques Lemaire… The Wild has outscored its opponents 15 to 7 in four games and ranked second in the NHL in goals-against (1.75; Buffalo – 1.40)… Minnesota is led by C Mikko Koivu (1-8-9 in four games) and RW Antii Miettinen (5-2-7, two game-winning goals in four games)… G Niklas Backstrom is 4-0-0 with a 1.71 GAA, .942 SV% and one shutout in four games… The Blue Jackets are 13-11-3 all-time vs. the Wild, including 4-8-2 on the road… Columbus earned a 4-0 win on Nov. 23, 2007 in its last visit to the Xcel Energy Center.

LW Raffi Torres (shoulder, Sept. 29) will be sidelined approximately six weeks… G Steve Mason (arthroscopic knee surgery, Sept. 23) will be sidelined approximately four to six weeks… C Manny Malhotra (back, Oct. 5) is day-to-day… RW Jared Boll (head/neck) was placed on Injured Reserve on Oct. 15 and is expected to miss seven to 10 days.


Rookie C Nikita Filatov scored his first NHL goal in his first career game vs. Nashville on Oct. 17… Prior to being recalled by the Jackets from Syracuse (AHL), Filatov scored goals in each of his first two professional games with the Crunch… D Marc Methot made his season debut at Nashville on Oct. 18 and tallied 1-1-2 and was +1 in 14:48 of action. His goal was the first of his NHL career… The club's top line of LW Rick Nash (4-0-4), C R.J. Umberger (0-2-2) and RW Kristian Huselius (team-leading 2-4-6) has combined for 6-6-12 and 54 shots on goal in five games… Nash's 28 shots on goal ranks third in the NHL, while his two game-winning goals is tied for the league lead… Huselius is riding a three-game points streak (1-4-5)… C Derick Brassard is tied for second among NHL rookies in scoring with 2-2-4, while RW Jakub Voracek is tied for fifth with 2-1-3… Brassard had his season-opening four-game points streak snapped at Nashville on Oct. 18… LW Jason Chimera has scored a goal in his past two games and has points in four-of-five this season (2-3-5)… C Michael Peca is eligible to return to the lineup Friday vs. New York upon completion of his five-game suspension.


The Blue Jackets are tied for 12th in the NHL in scoring, averaging 3.20 goals per game (16 in five games) and have scored three or more in four of their five games (3-1 loss at Phoenix on Oct. 11)… Columbus has converted 8-of-33 power play chances to rank eighth in the NHL at 23.8 percent… The club set a new franchise record when it scored two goals in a span of :08 vs. Nashville on Oct. 17 (Nikita Filatov at 14:18 and Jakub Voracek at 14:26 of the first period)… The previous record was :14 vs. Los Angeles on Feb. 8, 2006 (David Vyborny at 10:17 and Sergei Fedorov at 10:31 of the third period)… Filatov’s and Voracek’s goals were also the fastest two goals allowed in Predators franchise history.

Wednesday, Oct. 22 – C Manny Malhotra and RW Kristian Huselius at the Cheryl & Co store at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing from 6 to 7 p.m. Manny and Kristian will be signing commemorative Blue Jackets cookie tins at the store for all fans who buy a tin that night. The Blue Jackets Foundation and Cheryl & Co. have teamed up to develop a complete Blue Jackets gift collection with the GOAL of giving back. Proceeds from all Blue Jackets branded products will be donated to the Blue Jackets Foundation in support of its mission to fight pediatric cancer, support education, keep Central Ohio youth safe and healthy and help break the barrier of entry for youth into the sport of hockey.
