The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today a new multiyear partnership with Horizon, an Ohio-based fiber broadband company. The agreement gives Horizon designation as the Official Communications Provider of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Horizon is currently working with the hockey club on a pair of telecommunications solutions within Nationwide Arena that will upgrade the building's phone system and provide the fiber network to replace and expand internet bandwidth. The partnership also calls for Horizon to be the presenting partner of the in-arena WiFi that enables fans to access their favorite content during games and events.
In addition to in-arena assets and ice-level messaging in the form of a dasherboard, Horizon's partnership also encompasses presenting rights to the club's official website, BlueJackets.com, and sponsorship of the Blue Jackets Foundation's fundraising gala, CannonBall.
"We're excited to team up with this Ohio-based company that has been connecting customers and businesses for more than 120 years," said Ryan Shirk, Blue Jackets Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. "The improvements that Horizon will be making to our communications infrastructure will be a great benefit to everyone who visits or works in Nationwide Arena."
"We are very proud to partner with the Columbus Blue Jackets and provide services to enhance their network. Our organization's core values and growth strategy pair well together, with an important focus on our community," said Glenn Lytle, Chief Revenue Officer for Horizon. "As their Official Communication Provider, we are extremely excited to support our hometown team and play a part in the experience for fans and visitors."
