Blue Jackets Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky Named NHL's First Star of the Week for March 10-16

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has been named the National Hockey League’s First Star of the Week for the period ending March 16, the League and club announced today. New York Islanders right wing Kyle Okposo was named Second Star, while San Jose Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi was the Third Star selection.

Bobrovsky posted a 2-0-1 record with a 1.58 goals-against average and .950 save percentage in three games, stopping 95-of-100 shots against as the Blue Jackets moved into third place in the Metropolitan Division. He began the week by making 39 saves in a 4-1 win over Detroit on Mar. 11, made 24 saves and stopped 1-of-2 shootout attempts in a 4-3 shootout loss vs. San Jose on Mar. 13 and turned aside 32 shots in regulation and overtime and stopped 2-of-4 shootout attempts to earn a 2-1 win at Minnesota on Mar. 15.

The 2012-13 Vezina Trophy winner has gone 18-5-2 with a 2.13 GAA and .932 SV% in his last 25 games to improve to 26-16-4 with a 2.46 GAA, .920 SV% and three shutouts in 46 games this season. In 167 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers, Bobrovsky is 89-50-20 with a 2.46 GAA, .920 SV% and seven shutouts.
