COLUMBUS, OHIO – For the sixth consecutive year, Columbus Blue Jackets players and their wives and girlfriends, along with local pediatric cancer heroes, will model the latest fashions in a charity style show to raise funds to support the fight against pediatric cancer. This year's Black Tie Blue Jackets Style Show, presented by Kelly BMW, American Electric Power and Capital Style, is set for Thursday, Feb. 16 and will be staged once again on center ice at Nationwide Arena. The event will celebrate ten local cancer patients this year, ranging in age between six and 24 years old.
This year's fashions will be provided by a mix of Columbus-based boutiques including Ladybird, Leal, Nicole's for Children, Rowe, Thread in Grandview and Astor & Black. Fashions will be styled by Wardrobe Therapy, LLC and hair will be styled by the designers of Charles Penzone Salons. Proceeds will benefit the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation's local Hats For Heroes program and related pediatric cancer research initiatives.
Players expected to appear in the show include Jared Boll, Grant Clitsome, Derek Dorsett, Kristian Huselius, Ryan Johansen, Aaron Johnson, Mark Letestu, Derek MacKenzie, Steve Mason, Marc Methot, John Moore, Vinny Prospal, Curtis Sanford, Antoine Vermette and James Wisniewski. Players are subject to change. FOX Sports Ohio host Dave Maetzold will serve as event emcee. "The Black Tie Blue Jackets Style Show celebrates the strength, hope, and courage of our cancer Heroes. One of the very special parts of this evening is witnessing the genuine relationships that develop between the Blue Jackets players and our Heroes," said Jen Bowden, executive director of the Blue Jackets Foundation. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for the kids but it also has a very meaningful impact on our players."
The night begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and model meet & greet presented by Heidelberg Distributing. A sit-down dinner precedes the style show which also features an exclusive live auction. Inclusive dinner packages that include the pre-show reception, a commemorative gift and complimentary valet parking start at $250. After-five attire is the dress code for the evening. Highlighted by the Hats For Heroes program, more than $1 million has been raised since 2000. Dollars raised currently fund a variety of support programs for pediatric cancer patients and their families, critical research projects and assistance in providing palliative care.
