COLUMBUS, OHIO - Goaltender Anton Forsberg from the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, has been added to the Central Division's All-Star roster in the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Capital BlueCross, the Monsters and AHL announced today.
Forsberg, along with forwards Oliver Bjorkstrand and Ryan Craig, will represent the Monsters at the event to be held January 29 and 30 at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania, home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Forsberg, 24, is 12-7-2 with a 2.10 goals-against average, .932 save percentage and a shutout in 23 games with the Monsters this season. He is second in the AHL in save percentage, fourth in goals-against average, eighth-T in wins and ninth in minutes played (1,317).
The Härnösand, Sweden owns a 58-25-8 record with a 2.16 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and six shutouts in 98 career AHL games with the Monsters and Springfield Falcons. He led the Monsters to the 2016 AHL Calder Cup after finishing with a 9-0-0 record, 1.34 GAA, .949 SV% and two shutouts in 10 contests.
Columbus' seventh round selection, 188th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft, he has posted a 1-8-0 record with a 4.07 goals-against and .879 save percentage in 10 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, including stopping 27-of-31 shots in a 5-3 loss at Carolina in his season debut on January 10. He stopped six shots in overtime and two-of-three in the shootout on January 2, 2016 vs. Washington (5-4 SOW) to record his first career NHL victory.
