After a less than an "Oscar Winning Performance" in San Jose Saturday night the Blue Jackets continue their West Coast swing here in Los Angeles tonight.
The Jackets lost 2-1 to the Sharks Saturday, and if not for the superb goaltending of Steve Mason the score would have been considerably higher. Mason, in one of his best efforts of the season, turned aside 42 of 44 San Jose shots. The Jackets, who according to Coach Claude Noel got little from his top line of Vermette, Huselius and Nash, must generate more offensively. Nash for one is pointless in the Jackets two games since the Olympics and Saturday for only the second time this season failed to register a shot on goal. It's apparent Nash has had very little in the tank since the pressure and emotion of Canada's run to the Gold Medal in Vancouver. I expect he will be much better after a day off here in L.A.
Meantime Huselius will be a game time decision after being rocked a couple of times in San Jose. Huselius is bothered by a minor upper body injury. Derick Brassard has joined the team here in Los Angeles and is expected to center the second line.
Mason gets the start for the Blue Jackets and will be opposed by the Kings' Jonathon Quick.
Columbus will attempt to halt a four-game winless skid this evening, while the Kings uncharacteristic of their play this season have dropped two in a row.
Game time from the Staples Center tonight is 10:30 p.m. Blue Jackets Live with Ray Crawford begins at 10 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio and yes, the telecast will be in HD!
