COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets and the locally-owned franchisee group for Papa John’s Pizza have teamed up to deliver the first NHL team-themed pizza box in the company’s history. Now through the entire Blue Jackets season, any customer that orders a large pizza from a central Ohio Papa John’s restaurant will receive their pizza in a Blue Jackets-branded red and blue box. Over half a million Blue Jackets-branded boxes will be distributed in the Columbus market over the course of the 2015-16 hockey season.

“We’re very excited to be the first market in the country to put our local NHL team on the box,” said Charles Burris, vice president and operating partner of Johncol, Inc., the Columbus franchise group. “We’ve seen other markets do this for NFL, NBA and MLB teams, and we’re thrilled to be the first to say that our Blue Jackets deserve this, too. It’s probably the biggest way for us to show the rest of Columbus that we’re just as big of fans of the Blue Jackets as they are. We hope fans love it.”

“Putting our logo on their boxes is the biggest item on a long list of great ways that our partners at Papa John’s have supported us,” said A.J. Poole, vice president of corporate development for the Blue Jackets. “The branded box is the first thing people see when they get their pizza delivered or pick it up, and now they’ll see the Blue Jackets front and center.”

The design of the box will also include messaging about Papa John’s “Score Twice, Half Price” promotion where fans that order online can receive 50% off all large pizzas the day following any home or road game in which the Jackets score two goals. Prior to this season, the special offer was only available after Blue Jackets home games. To activate the discount, fans must order on and enter promotional code “Jackets50” at checkout.

The Blue Jackets will kick off their 15th NHL season with a home-and-home series against the 2014-15 Presidents’ Trophy-winning New York Rangers. The Metropolitan Division rivals will face off at Nationwide Arena on Friday, October 9, and meet again at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, October 10. Game time for both contests is 7 p.m.

A limited number of tickets to the October 9 home opener are currently available for purchase online at,, or in person at the Big Lots Box Office at Nationwide Arena, OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rinks and all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers. Fans may purchase tickets by phone at (800) 745‐3000.
