The Columbus Blue Jackets released forwards Olivier Labelle and Brent Walton from their tryout contracts and assigned both players to the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, team President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced Friday. Today's moves brings Columbus' training camp roster to 45 players.
The Blue Jackets (2-1-0) return to preseason action at Nationwide Arena tonight, hosting the Central Division rival Chicago Blackhawks at 7 p.m. ET. The game marks the second of four in four nights for Columbus as the club visits Chicago on Saturday before hosting the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. The Jackets-Canes contest is slated for a 6 p.m. start and marks the final home preseason game for Columbus, which wraps up its preseason schedule at Carolina on Friday. Columbus officially begins its sixth NHL season on Friday, October 6 against the Vancouver Canucks. Game time at Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m.
