COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned left wing Kerby Rychel to Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Rychel, 21, has collected two goals and seven assists for nine points with 15 penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating in 32 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has added 5-15-20 with 45 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in 21 games with Lake Erie. He was leading the Monsters in points per game (.95) and was second in assists and points when he was recalled by Columbus on January 9. He was selected to participate in his first AHL All-Star Classic, but missed the game after joining the Blue Jackets.
The Torrance, California native has recorded 2-10-12, 17 penalty minutes and a +8 plus/minus rating in 37 career NHL games since making his debut during the 2014-15 season. Columbus’ second first round pick, 19th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, he has added 17-36-53 with 88 penalty minutes and a +9 plus/minus rating in 72 career AHL games with the Monsters and Springfield Falcons.
