COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated forwards Josh Anderson and Daniel Zaar off the Injured Non-Roster list and assigned both players to the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Anderson, 21, suffered a fractured orbital bone in the Blue Jackets’ preseason game vs. Pittsburgh on September 21. He tallied an assist and two penalty minutes in six contests with Columbus during his first professional season in 2014-15. The Burlington, Ontario native added 7-10-17 and 76 penalty minutes in 52 games with the AHL’s Springfield Falcons.
Columbus’ fourth pick, 95th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft, Anderson posted 62-61-123, 192 penalty minutes and was +58 in 191 career games with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights from 2011-14.
Zaar, 21, who suffered a rib injury at the NHL Prospects Tournament in September, completed his first full season in the Swedish Hockey League, recording 9-18-27 in 55 games with Lulea HF in 2014-15. A native of Helsingborg, Sweden, he finished second on the team in assists, fourth in points and fifth-T in goals. Columbus’ fifth pick, 152nd overall in the 2012 NHL Draft, Zaar has posted 11-19-30 and 18 penalty minutes in 80 career games with Rogle and Lulea in the SHL from 2012-15.
