COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Stefan Legein to the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Scott Howson announced January 6. The club also announced that forward Nikita Filatov has been re-assigned to Syracuse after playing for Russia at the 2009 World Junior Championships.

Legein (pronounced LEE-jihn), 20, was Columbus' second pick, 37th overall, in the 2007 Entry Draft. He tallied 24 goals and 13 assists for 37 points with 80 penalty minutes and a +12 plus/minus rating in 30 games with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League in 2007-08. He missed 22 games due to a shoulder injury he suffered while playing for Canada at the 2008 World Junior Championships. Prior to the injury, he collected 1-1-2 and eight penalty minutes in seven games and was an alternate captain for gold medal-winning Team Canada. In 202 career OHL games with Mississauga/Niagara, he registered 77-59-136 and 333 penalty minutes.

Filatov (pronounced FIHL-uh-tawv) 18, tallied 8-3-11, six penalty minutes and was +3 in seven games for Russia at the 2009 World Junior Championships, finishing among the tournament's top goal scorers (first-tied) and point producers (fourth-tied). Russia's team captain, he was named to the All-Tournament Team and led his club to the bronze medal. Columbus' first pick, sixth overall, in the 2008 Entry Draft, he collected 1-0-1 in four games with the Blue Jackets earlier this season and has registered 7-10-17, 10 penalty minutes and is +6 in 23 games with the Crunch.
