Blue Jackets assign center Michael Chaput to Lake Erie Monsters (AHL)

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Michael Chaput to Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Chaput, 23, has recorded a goal and an assist with five penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating in eight games with the Blue Jackets this season. He leads Lake Erie in points and ranks second in assists with 12-25-37, 31 penalty minutes and a +6 plus/minus rating in 55 games. The Ile Bizard, Quebec native has tallied 2-6-8 and 28 penalty minutes in 58 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and added 54-81-135 with 161 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in 228 career AHL games with the Monsters and Springfield Falcons. Originally selected by Philadelphia with their first pick, 89th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft, he was acquired from the Flyers via trade on February 28, 2011.
