Blue Jackets Assign Balastik

The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned right wing Jaroslav Balastik to the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, team President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced Thursday.

Balastik, 26, has scored a goal and registered two penalty minutes in six games with the Blue Jackets this season. Columbus’ ninth pick, 184th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft, he has registered 13 goals and 10 assists with 28 penalty minutes in 72 career NHL games, including 12-10-22 in 66 games with the club in 2005-06. He also chipped in 3-3-6 in 14 games with the Crunch a year ago.

The Blue Jackets return to action Friday when they host the Calgary Flames at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Live coverage on FSN Ohio begins with the IceBreaker, pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. and includes the Blue Jackets Ice Cap post-game show immediately after the game. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 the Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
