Blue Jackets announce Traverse City roster

by Rob Mixer / Columbus Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Another sign that hockey season is rapidly approaching: the Blue Jackets have confirmed their participation in the Red Wings' annual prospects tournament in Traverse City, and along with it, their official roster for the tournament.

The Blue Jackets will take 24 players to Traverse City on Sept. 4, with the tournament beginning the following day. It's an all-day affair for the teams, with practices typically taking place in the morning and games played in the afternoon.

Here are the groupings and participating teams for this year's tournament:

TED LINDSAY DIVISION - Columbus, Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers

GORDIE HOWE DIVISION – Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues

This is the Blue Jackets' 12th consecutive appearance in Traverse City, and they won both the 2006 and 2007 tournaments. Brad Larsen, head coach of the Springfield Falcons, will serve as the Blue Jackets prospects coach in Traverse City, with his normal Falcons assistants Jared Bednar and Nolan Pratt on staff as well.

Without spoiling all the fun, among the highlights on this year's roster: Kerby Rychel, first-round pick (19th overall) in 2013, seven camp invites including goaltender Jordan Dekort of the Windsor Spitfires, defenseman Ryan Murray, center Boone Jenner and several other notable names from the last few draft years.

And now, for the official roster...
