Umberger

This season's recipients are led by left wing R.J. Umberger, who earned the Jackets Fans Most Valuable Player Award as voted by fans at BlueJackets.com and the John H. McConnell Most Courageous Player Award as voted by his teammates. Umberger tallied 25-32-57 with 38 penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating in 82 games in 2010-11, recording his third-straight 20-goal season and setting a career high in points. He also played in his 246th-straight game as a Blue Jacket, setting a new franchise record for consecutive games played.

Five-time All-Star Rick Nash won the Three Stars Award as determined by voting for the game's three stars throughout the course of the season. Nash led the Jackets in goals for the seventh-straight season and points for the fourth year in a row with 32-34-66 to go along with 34 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in 75 games. He also led the club with 305 shots on goal and seven game-winning goals.

Fedor Tyutin was named the club’s Outstanding Defenseman in voting by local media after collecting 7-20-27 and 32 penalty minutes in 80 games and leading the club in ice time, averaging 22:41 per game.

Center Derek MacKenzie was voted the Blue Jackets’ Most Improved Player by club broadcasters. After spending most of the previous nine seasons in the American Hockey League, he tallied 9-14-23 and led the club in plus/minus rating at +14 (a franchise record for a forward) in 63 games in his first full NHL season.

Boll

Right wing Jared Boll was named the Columbus Blue Jackets Player Community Service Award winner as selected by the club’s Foundation and Community Development staff. Boll registered 7-5-12 and 182 penalty minutes in 73 games on the ice and was one of the club's most active players off it. He and teammate Derek Dorsett provided game tickets to active military personnel and their families through their “Bruise Brothers” program.
