COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets
begin preparations for their 14th National Hockey League season with the opening of training camp, presented by OhioHealth, on Thursday, September 18. Players will report for physicals at McConnell Spine, Sport & Joint Center (3773 Olentangy River Road, Columbus) beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, September 18 with fitness testing to follow at Nationwide Arena
. Players will be available to the media at Nationwide Arena between 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
2014-15 BLUE JACKETS TRAINING CAMP
The team will take the ice for the first time on Friday, September 19 at the OhioHealth Ice Haus. During training camp, all practice sessions held at the Ice Haus will be open to the public (see full schedule below). In addition, sessions in both the Ice Haus and on the main ice surface at Nationwide Arena on Saturday, September 20 will be open to the public with Ice Haus doors opening at 9 a.m. The first 1,000 fans in attendance for Saturday’s practice sessions will receive a “We Are The 5th Line” long-sleeved t-shirt courtesy of OhioHealth, while The Columbus Dispatch will be distributing free copies of that day’s paper to the first several hundred fans who arrive. In addition, fans will be able to take photos in the Ice Haus lobby through the OhioHealth photo experience.
There are 55 players scheduled to participate in this year’s training camp. The players will be divided into two groups on September 19, 20 and 22. The Blue Jackets open their eight-game 2014 preseason schedule on Sunday, September 21 with split squad contests against the Carolina Hurricanes and St. Louis Blues. Columbus and Carolina face off at 1:30 p.m. at PNC Arena before the Jackets host the Blues at 6:30 p.m. at Nationwide Arena.
Media Availability – Practices: General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen will be available between on-ice sessions. Head Coach Todd Richards and members of the coaching and hockey operations staffs will be available following the final practice session each day, while all players will be available following their final scheduled workout of the day. Pre-Season Games: The Blue Jackets dressing room will be open to the media and players available within five minutes of the game’s conclusion. Head Coach Todd Richards will meet with the media in the press conference room at the end of the dressing room hallway approximately 20 minutes after all home games.

Season Credentials – Media receiving Blue Jackets credentials for the 2014-15 will be able to pick up their credentials prior to the club’s home preseason games beginning on Sunday, September 21. The credentials will be available at the Media Entrance (Tower Entrance), located on the south side of the arena at the corner of Nationwide Blvd. and Marconi Blvd. The Media Entrance will be open two hours prior to game time.
