Blue Jackets Announce Roster Moves

The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forward Ben Simon Ben Simon from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League and re-assigned forward Dan Fritsche to Syracuse, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.

Simon has appeared in 73 career NHL games and registered 3-1-4 with 43 penalty minutes with the Blue Jackets and Atlanta Thrashers. In 40 games with the Crunch this season, he has tallied 11-11-22, including three power play goals and three shorthanded goals. Simon’s three shorthanded tallies are tied for second-most in the AHL. The Shaker Heights, Ohio native and University of Notre Dame alumnus has also appeared in five games with the Blue Jackets in 2005-06.

Fritsche has notched 3-5-8 and 18 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Blue Jackets in 2005-06 and added 0-1-1 in two games with Syracuse earlier this season. A second round selection, 46th overall, by the Blue Jackets at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, he has recorded 4-5-9 in 64 career NHL games and 2-1-3 in six career AHL contests. The Parma, Ohio native also represented Team USA at both the 2004 and 2005 World Junior Championships, winning a gold medal in 2004 and scoring 5-6-11 in 13 games during the two tournaments.

The Blue Jackets open a three-game road trip on Wednesday night at Calgary. Game time is set for 10 p.m. ET, with FSN Ohio's Ice Breaker pre-game show starting at 9:30 p.m. ET. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 the Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
