Blue Jackets announce fan festivities around 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets invite fans to “Battle On” with a host of activities surrounding the 2014 Blue Jackets playoffs, presented by AEP Energy, Nationwide Insurance and The Columbus Dispatch.

When the Blue Jackets face off against the Penguins in Pittsburgh, the team invites fans to gather for road game viewing parties at Scioto Downs Racino (6000 S High St, Columbus, OH 43207). All fans in attendance may register to win prizes including official Blue Jackets Stanley Cup Playoffs merchandise and Blue Jackets autographed items. Blue Jackets personalities, including in-arena host Mike Todd and members of the promotions teams, will also be on hand for the party. Fans must be 21 years of age to attend. GAME 3 & 4 INFORMATION

When the series shifts to Columbus, Nationwide Insurance presents the pre-game parties on the Front Street plaza in front of Nationwide Arena starting at 5 p.m. before home games on Monday, April 21 and Wednesday, April 23. Fans can enjoy music, face-painting and sign-making activities for kids and more. Food and drink offerings include hot dogs, homemade Italian sausage, fire-grilled hamburgers and cheeseburgers as well as beer, soda and water.

All fans attending the first two home games will receive thunder stick noisemakers courtesy of AEP Energy, Nationwide Insurance and The Columbus Dispatch and playoff cheer cards courtesy of The Columbus Dispatch. During Games 1 and 2, one lucky fan will have the chance to win $100,000 from The Columbus Dispatch. Fans may register online at Dispatch.com/Rewards for the chance to participate. In addition, Game 1 will feature an in-game contest where one fan will win $1,000 courtesy of Scioto Downs Racino. During Game 2, Marathon will present a giveaway where 100 fans will receive gas cards ranging in value from $5 to $500.
