Blue Jackets announce training camp roster, schedule

Players report for physicals/fitness testing Thursday, take the ice for first time Friday

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets begin preparations for their 16th National Hockey League season with the opening of training camp, presented by OhioHealth, on Thursday, September 22. Players will report for physicals at McConnell Spine, Sport and Joint Center beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 22 with fitness testing to follow at Nationwide Arena.

The team will conduct off-ice workouts and on-ice testing on Friday, September 23 at Nationwide Arena and the OhioHealth Ice Haus with the first team on-ice practices and scrimmages slated for Saturday, September 24 in both rinks.Teams 1 and 4 will be on the ice between 9 a.m.-noon at the OhioHealth Ice Haus, while Teams 2 and 3 will skate in Nationwide Arena between 1-4 p.m.During training camp, all practice sessions will be open to the public (see full schedule below).Fans should enter at McConnell Street, next to the Big Lots Box Office for all practice sessions.

The training camp roster consists of 65 players (37 forwards, 20 defensemen, eight goaltenders), including six - forwards Brandon Dubinsky and Brandon Saad, defensemen Jack Johnson, Seth Jones and Ryan Murray, and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky - that are currently participating in the World Cup of Hockey 2016.

The players will be divided into four groups for practice sessions between September 23 and 28. The Blue Jackets open their eight-game preseason schedule on Sunday, September 25 when they face off against the Blues in a split-squad series. The two teams meet at 1 p.m. ET in St. Louis and at 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena. The Jackets will also host the Nashville Predators on Thursday, September 29, the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, October 2 and the Boston Bruins on Thursday, October 6. Columbus opens the regular season at home against the Bruins on Thursday, October 13.

Time Change - Please note that the preseason road game on Saturday, October 8 against Pittsburgh at CONSOL Energy Center will face off at 3 p.m. NOT 4 p.m. as originally scheduled.
