COLUMBUS, OHIO - Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today that the club has reached an agreement with the Kalamazoo Wings to serve as the ECHL affiliate for the Blue Jackets and the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons for the 2014-15 season.
“We are excited to have the Kalamazoo Wings as our new ECHL affiliate,” said Blue Jackets Assistant General Manager Chris MacFarland, who oversees hockey operations for the club’s professional affiliates. “We look forward to working with Head Coach Nick Bootland and the entire K-Wings organization to help us develop some of the young players in our system.”
The K-Wings compete in the ECHL’s Western Conference Midwest Division with the Colorado Eagles, Evansville IceMen, Fort Wayne Komets and Indy Fuel. The club plays its home games at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan and will open its 41st season, and sixth in the ECHL, on the road against the Elmira Jackals on Friday, October 17.
