COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated right wing Rene Bourque off Injured Reserve and placed defenseman David Savard on Injured Reserve retroactive to December 15, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Bourque, 34, has missed the last 12 games after suffering an upper body injury. He has recorded 0-1-1 and 12 penalty minutes in 15 games with the Blue Jackets this season. The Lac La Biche, Alberta native has recorded 148-143-291 and 502 penalty minutes in 626 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks. Originally signed as a free agent by Chicago on July 29, 2004, he was acquired by the Blue Jackets from the Ducks on March 2, 2015.
Savard, 25, suffered an ankle injury on December 15 at Dallas and is expected to miss four weeks. He has collected 0-13-13 and 29 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Blue Jackets this season. A native of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, he has tallied 18-56-74 and 144 penalty minutes in 220 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. Savard was Columbus’ third pick, 94th overall, in the 2009 NHL Draft.
