Blue Jackets activate forward Matt Calvert off injured reserve

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated forward Matt Calvert off Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Calvert has missed the last seven games with an upper body injury sustained during a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on December 21.

Calvert, 24, has tallied four goals and four assists for eight points in 17 games with Columbus this season and 24-23-47 in 114 career NHL games, all with the Blue Jackets. He was Columbus’ fifth pick, 127th overall, at the 2008 NHL Draft. The 5-11, 187-pound left winger collected 9-7-16 and 32 penalty minutes in 42 games with the Blue Jackets in 2012-13 and added 10-11-21 and 39 penalty minutes in 34 games with the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons.

A native of Brandon, Manitoba, Calvert spent three seasons with the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings, amassing 99-131-230 in 198 games from 2007-10. He has also appeared in 128 career AHL games, registering 40-42-82 and a +6 plus/minus rating with Springfield.
